Failure Thread

failure... i think i'll use this site to write down how i ended up watching porn so that i would stop myself in the future. maybe everytime one of you "fail" you can also use this thread so that we all may see how the mind takes us back to these places. Adam i read your thread and i can relate to the one when you see that a new "sex scandal" or "wardrobe malfunction" hits the news and so you try to find it online. Now that I've acknowledged it hopefully i won't find myself goin down that path again.

Anyways, failure 1 since I found this site. Time between last failure - 2 days
i was watching a tv show online in which there was an actress who was being seductive and so I decided to try to find out her real name since she was a new character in the series. I found her on wikipedia and then found which movies she acted in. I then went trying to find if she was ever in a nude scene in any movies, but found out she was not. By then I was on a website which is devoted to celebrity nude scenes and i found myself browsing through familiar names until eventually I was masturbating to sex scenes on yet another website. So my mind took me from a normal PG rating tv show to hardcore sex scenes in a matter of 15 minutes. maybe next time i'll know better than to check wikipedia for something so stupid....

Hi TriniYouth,
I read your post with great recognition - I have done that route a number of times. So I think one of the values of this online forum is in saying 'I am not going to pretend that I don't know what I'm doing anymore' around this whole issue. If we pay attention we can get our heads wrapped around the triggers which make us run to porn, and our strategies to get porn, and then I think we can choose to say "No More" to the addictive urge more easily.

Hi TriniYouth,

It's a very familiar path you've described as I've been down that road many times only to find myself on the hook of porn.

I would see the image of a glamorous actress on TV and before I knew it, curiosity had led me to other links on the Internet that I didn't set out to visit.
I was like both the fisheman and the fish, where curiosity on the Internet was the line and images of glamorous women was the bait; when before I knew it, I was wriggling on the hook amd reeling myself in.

The only answer for me in those circumstances is to be very alert to the power of seduction no matter which media it comes from - be it TV, film, newspaper, magazine - either directly or indirectly as in advertising. etc. When I come across it, I mentally say to myself - 'I don't want to know
about that' and I don't dwell on it but try to blank it out without further thought. That's when I was most at risk - when was my mind was unocuppied it was very susceptible

I have been learning a lot from those past mistakes; about triggers, about curiousity, about the sub-conscious, about the power of suggestion and seduction.
We have to learn from our mistakes always trying to understand what went wrong and put in place strategies for dealing with it.

Amongst other things, I try to remember this: sex sells - it's a ploy so don't get taken in by it.
I also try to remember visualisations: the fish and fisherman analogy is one of them: you wont find yourself on the hook if you don't cast the line of curiosity on the Internet in the first place.

Keep it going

Steve

I also give into my porn habit when I have nothing to do (There's always something imp. to do but then I don't plan, so I basically don't feel the pressure to do anything like studying or whatever). And then it grips me for hours. :(

You should install a blocker. I can be very helpful in times of weakness. Problempornography.com allows to sign yourself up. And you cannot uninstall the filter until your filtering subscription expores.

Good Luck.
